“Some Real Soul Sugar Honey Iced Tea.”
This film is a drama and takes place in Philadelphia. It will highlight the culture of Philadelphia, telling a unique story about the music, fashion, poetry, culinary arts, and life in the urban community. This story follows the life of Ayanna, who is passionate about selling a juice by the name of “Sugar Honey Iced Tea” that her grandmother makes.
Ayana struggles with her mom’s addiction to crack. In addition, she is in a constant battle about loving the ghetto she lives in and disliking the things that plague the urban community such as, violence, poverty, and drugs.
When she goes to college and comes back, her view of the community is magnified. Ayana feels distant from everything she ever loved. She also finds herself missing Philly, from the underground artist to the black-owned stores. And missing her genuine childhood Love name Dom, her love for him is very similar to her passion for Philly. Everything connected to the city reminds her of him; she hates that she’s in love with a bad boy, and when he finally decides to change, she can’t seem to believe him.
